RELISH THESE MONSOON FRUITS

After a scorching hot summer days, comes the monsoon season giving us respite from the sweltering heat. 

Monsoon gets us breezy and gloomy mornings and the earthy smell of wet land but along with that comes the increased chances of bacterial infections and low-immunity.As we all know that including immunity boosting foods are very important especially in the month of monsoon but in this article I will be mentioning about a few seasonal fruits which one must have during this season to reap out the benefits of these seasonal fruits. Seasonal fruits contain all the nutrients the body needs during that season of the year and is the nature’s best way to heal us.

The 7 must have seasonal fruits are:

  1. Cherries:

Cherries are a nutrient dense food which has a relatively low caloric content and also contains significant amount of important nutrients such as fibre, carotenoids, Vitamin C and potassium. It is a rich source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds which helps combat oxidative stress reduces the risk of chronic disease, premature aging, improves heart health and improves the quality of sleep. 

2. Peaches:

Peaches have numerous health promoting compounds, minerals and vitamins. Fresh peaches contain a moderate amount of Vitamin A & Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps reduce the risk of infections. On the other hand Vitamin A is essential for prevention of night vision issues as well as maintaining a healthy skin.

3. Litchi:

Litchi contains a good amount of Vitamin C, B-complex vitamins which helps increase the metabolism to which aids in weight loss. Litchi being rich in fibre content helps reduce appetite. 

Litchi’s are a rich source of manganese, magnesium, copper, iron and folate that are required for formation of RBC’s as these are nutrients that are required for the production of blood.

Litchi also contains high amounts of Vitamin C and potassium which is required for maintaining sodium levels, which is beneficial for people suffering from high blood pressure conditions.

4.Plum: 

Plums have a very rich fibre content and is ideal for people suffering from digestive issues such as constipation, helps reduce the spike in blood glucose levels and also aids in weight loss. Those who are suffering from high blood pressure, this can be an amazing evening snack as it is a rich source of potassium.

5.White Jamun: 

White Jamun is rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin A, dietary fibre, calcium, thiamine, niacin and iron. Vitamin C helps in the formation of collagen which improves the skin and hair & also helps improve immunity. The fibre content in the fruit helps maintain the blood sugar levels, regulate cholesterol levels which further lead to cardiovascular diseases like heart attack or a stroke. White jamun has a good water content which not only hydrates the body but also helps in cleansing the liver and kidneys.

During this weather the chances of infections are high and seasonal fruits contains all the nutrients the body needs to fight against bacterial infections. So give yourself the extra boost of these nutrient rich foods which are so appealing and delicious to eat! They can be enjoyed as smoothies, fruit salads, chia seed pudding, as a snack with some nuts and so many endless ways in which you can enjoy them.
